Comments on the content of the page may be added by going to the '''discussion''' tab and either editing the existing discussion or better still using the '''+''' link to the right of the '''edit''' link and add a new topic of discussion.

There's a certain way of laying out comments. You use a preceding colon to indicate that its a response to a previous comment. Two colons for a response to a response and so on.

Please sign your comments using the signature button on the toolbar for this. It is always useful to know when a comment was made

===Logging In===

To edit the Irish Climbing Wiki, you need to login. If you have not previously created a login on this wiki, you can create one [[Special:CreateAccount|here]].

'''Note:''' Prior to 2021, the forum login would also do as the wiki login, but with the major upgrade to the wiki in 2021, the software that was used to link the two entities together was no longer maintained, as was deemed a security risk. So from 2021, it's necessary to create a new login on the wiki.

Here is a link to a free topo maker just for making topos for climbing. It is so much easier than using any type of publishing software or Microsoft products like Word. If you want to see what the end product looks like check out the update for the Gap of Dunloe or Rusheen Guide on here. It produces high quality easy to understand picture topos. Irish Climbing Database

There are two main methods of accessing the database.

  1. The Irish Climbing Database page is a text list of crags by county.
  2. The Interactive Map is a Google map of over 200 pins listing crags, gyms, stacks, etc.

This database supplements the Mountaineering Ireland guidebooks.

Anybody can read the contents of the database, but to edit, you'll need an account or send new route reports to admin@climbing.ie. Please see Readers Guide and Editors Guide sections below.

NOTE: DUE TO A RECENT SOFTWARE UPGRADE (March 2021), all logins had to be removed, and new registrations are required. So please use the Create Account page to register. Alternatively, email daveh@climbing.ie and I can manually register you.

List of Updates:

  • New WYSIWYG Editor, no more having to deal with wiki mark up language.
  • Updated the wiki software from a 12-year-old version to a right-up-to-the-minute version.
  • New mobile-friendly skin. Makes the info much more readable on portable devices.
  • New interactive map with more than 100 pins.
